Position Overview:
We are pleased to present an opportunity to join Sutter Health as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Technical Specialist. In this role, you will serve as the technical and clinical authority in various laboratory domains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate Quality Control (QC) and Proficiency Testing (PT) metrics, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Compile and present QC and PT results in a clear format for review by the Medical Director.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including thorough record reviews related to patient testing and instrument maintenance.
  • Stay informed on technological advancements and accreditation standards relevant to your laboratory specialties.
  • Play a pivotal role in maintaining accreditation compliance and participate in regulatory inspections.
  • Provide expert guidance on technical and clinical troubleshooting to ensure reliable test outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Design and oversee validation and verification plans for new methodologies and equipment.
  • Create training materials and assess the competency of staff on new procedures.
  • Perform all essential duties of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist across various laboratory areas.

Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field from an accredited institution, fulfilling the necessary coursework for a Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license as per California regulations.

Licensure:
Must possess a valid CLSL-Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist certification.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient in specimen collection, preparation, testing applications, and laboratory operations.
  • Expertise in regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Strong capabilities in QC/QA, equipment troubleshooting, and procedure development.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and perform duties with precision and reliability.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Compassionate interaction with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Work Schedule:
This position requires evening shifts and is full-time, with a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including one weekend shift per month.
