We are pleased to announce an opportunity to join Sutter Health as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Technical Specialist. This role serves as the technical and clinical authority in various laboratory disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate Quality Control (QC) and Proficiency Testing (PT) results, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
- Compile and present QC and PT findings in reports or graphical formats for review by the Medical Director.
- Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including thorough record reviews related to patient testing and instrument maintenance.
- Stay informed about technological advancements and accreditation standards pertinent to the laboratory.
- Play a crucial role in maintaining accreditation compliance and participate in regulatory inspections.
- Provide expert guidance in troubleshooting technical and clinical issues to ensure precise and actionable test outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Design and oversee validation and verification plans for new laboratory procedures and equipment.
- Create training materials and competency assessments for new methodologies.
- Train and evaluate the proficiency of laboratory staff.
- Perform all essential duties of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist across various laboratory sectors.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field from an accredited institution, fulfilling the coursework requirements for a Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license as specified by regulatory standards.
Licensure:
Must possess a valid CLSL license as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated expertise in specimen collection, preparation, testing applications, and laboratory operations.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Proficient in QC/QA processes, equipment troubleshooting, and training methodologies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage workflow under varying conditions.
- Exceptional judgment and problem-solving skills relevant to laboratory duties.
- Ability to engage compassionately with a diverse patient population.
Work Schedule:
This position requires evening shifts, with a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including one weekend shift per month.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is competitive, with consideration given to experience, education, and skills. A comprehensive benefits package is also available.
