Job Overview

This role is responsible for conducting in-person appointments to sell and market products to school distributors and districts. The position also involves working with the Bid Manager to analyze and recap school bids, and educating other sales representatives about K-12 school products. The K-12 Specialist will be responsible for inputting daily activity into the CRM and planning against top priority customers and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule in-person sales calls against business planning customers in the CRM, meeting weekly and trimester sales call and presentation goals.
  • Check and return emails and voice mails daily, with all calls to operators returned within 48 hours.
  • Complete follow-up calls to customers as needed.
  • Follow up on sales leads within 48 hours.
  • Conduct taste testing events and food shows at the district and state SNA level.
  • Analyze school bids and create presentations for the director of school districts of AGW products.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the school segment to ensure the sales of our client's products.
  • Continued education in the school K-12 segment is preferred.
  • Attend industry events as determined by the K-12 Director and market sales management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a related field or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience preferably with a food sales and marketing agency, along with food service management in K-12, or with a national food manufacturer.
  • Integrity/Trust/Ethics: Keeps business strategy, pricing, data, and issues confidential as required by AG, manufacturer, and operator.
  • Outstanding time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing priorities while traveling.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain and define information, issues, and topics to anyone.
  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed, with the ability to take initiative in managing the sales territory.
  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding in interactions with diverse clients and business partners.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a flexible schedule.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and virtual presentation tools.
  • Team Player Attitude, with the ability to promote a positive team dynamic and help team members succeed.
Work Environment
  • Typical work week: Mon through Fri (8 A.M. to 6 P.M.).
  • Weekend and evening food shows occur about 20 weekend days or nights annually.
  • The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, with the ability to safely lift case goods and small equipment.
  • Travel: Requires daily motor vehicle travel to assigned district and distributor locations. Occasional travel by plane.
  • Overnights: 1-3x month.
  • Control/manage expenses, submit expense reports monthly.
