Electrical Chief Estimator Job Description

Shimmick Construction Co. is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Chief Estimator to join our team in Irvine, CA. As a key member of our Electrical Division, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects that meet our clients' expectations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates for competitive bids and proposals.
  • Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications to determine and price value-engineered alternatives.
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative, and draft scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations.
  • Lead the functions of the Estimating Department, including the education and development of junior personnel, and on-going development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner, and perform change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work, and review estimates created by others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform job handoffs from estimating to operations through clearly demonstrating detailed scopes of work, specifications, and job-specific conditions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, plus 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Working knowledge of Accubid Anywhere utilizing Live Count estimating software is preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations with confidence, and proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Supervisory experience desired, able to delegate, coordinate work of others, monitor performance, and deliver feedback.
Additional Information:

Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. The salary range for this position is between $160,000 - $210,000 depending on experience and/or education.
