Position Overview:
This entry-level role is focused on the evaluation of pre-cooked or post-cooked food items as they enter or exit the cooking process. Responsibilities include overseeing frozen products in the packaging area and organizing finished product cases onto designated pallets.

Key Responsibilities:
Physical Duties:

  • Assemble and/or package products to meet production standards.
  • Lift and transport cases weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Inspect packaging materials for any damage and inform the Lead of any non-compliant items.
  • Conduct sanitation and housekeeping tasks, monitoring packing equipment for potential issues to report to a Lead.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and sticker information is applied, stack cases appropriately on pallets, and verify proper sealing of bags and boxes.
  • Understand various case pack sizes and weight specifications, adjusting tape machine settings as necessary.
  • Maintain efficiency and adaptability to varying line speeds and case requirements.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Communication Responsibilities:

  • Engage in respectful communication with all team members.
  • Report any production challenges to team members, demonstrating knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Sanitation Practices (GSP).
  • Participate in break rotations, maintain legible documentation, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Inspect products to ensure adherence to quality standards set by Quality Control, disposing of non-compliant items and communicating with leadership as necessary.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Comply with company safety standards and regulations.
  • Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, and actions.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques.
  • Employ mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift) as needed.
  • Engage in team lifting for products exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Utilize handrails and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

The average temperature within the facility is around 50 degrees. Employees may be required to wear safety gear such as bump caps, safety glasses, hairnets, smocks, boots, earplugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the company. Compliance with Food Safety standards, including GMPs, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements, is essential.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates reliability and self-motivation.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing setting is advantageous.
  • Possesses strong communication skills.

Working Conditions:
The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential functions.

The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and communicate verbally. Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required, typically at waist level and sometimes at shoulder level. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Continuous standing is required, with occasional walking, reaching, and working above shoulder level, as well as body bending, stooping, climbing stairs, twisting, and operating a pallet jack. Exposure to loud industrial environments and varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold is expected.
