Job Summary: The Food Service Worker is responsible for performing a variety of patient, cafeteria and catering services functions that may include patient visitation, tray assembly, distribution and service, general sanitation, cleaning and use of kitchen equipment and pantries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient service and ensure a positive experience for all patients, families, and staff.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks to patients, families, and staff in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient areas.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and appliances safely and efficiently.
  • Restock and maintain inventory of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and prepare special meals and events.
  • Assist with patient transportation and visitation as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, customers, and other associates of the facility.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Ability to bend and stoop for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to reach for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate objects for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds, and with assistance or equipment as needed.
  • Ability to hear alarms, clients, and/or instructions.
  • Ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20 feet.
