Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Support Unit Supervisor to join our team at Durham County Government. As a key member of our Social Services department, you will be responsible for overseeing the enforcement and collection of child support orders, as well as establishing support orders for intergovernmental caseloads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the performance and progress of team members and implement necessary training and/or corrective actions.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local policies and regulations as they pertain to the Child Support program.
  • Ensure conformance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations by engaging in quality assurance and case reviews.
  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze business processes for continual improvement.
  • Develop specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely goals and objectives for team members.
  • Address internal/external customer concerns.
  • Provide coordination of workload coverage to meet organizational demands.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff.
  • Help to maintain relationships with community partners.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or GED plus four years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility, attorney's office, or related work which includes one year of Child Support experience.
  • A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in Child Support Services.
  • Experience working with the NC Automated Collections Tracking System.
  • Advanced data entry and typing skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
