Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Child Life Specialist to join our team at Duke Health. As a key member of our pediatric care team, you will provide emotional support and guidance to families with children facing cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the emotional and medical needs of assigned patients and families to determine the support required during the medical experience.
  • Develop and implement plans to promote coping skills, emotional health, and optimal development in the hospital setting.
  • Provide play and recreational activities for assigned patients to normalize the environment and facilitate assessments.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
  • Participate in professional training and development to enhance job performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Counseling, Special Education, Recreation Therapy, or a directly related field.
  • One year of experience working with hospitalized children or in an educational training program working with children.
  • A Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification is required.
