About the Role

The Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Resource Coach to join our team. As a key member of our Ivy Cares department, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal success of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to create a supportive student environment, targeting at-risk populations and promoting student persistence, retention, and success.
  • Support the planning and implementation of departmental programs and projects, collaborating with community and college partners to integrate services for students.
  • Engage in active outreach efforts to inform students about the services offered in the Ivy Cares department, promoting financial wellness and career development.
  • Respond to and manage student inquiries, providing timely and effective support to resolve current financial situations and promote proactive financial management.
  • Develop and implement plans of action, providing tools, resources, and accountability to students to help them meet their goals.
  • Assist students in applying for emergency aid and connecting them with exterior social service resources, fostering a culture of innovation and empowerment.
  • Interface with community service organizations, developing relationships and promoting partnerships to support student success.
  • Assist with resource fairs and events, promoting student engagement and connection with community resources.
  • Utilize technology, including Microsoft Office, Banner, and Outlook Calendar, to provide accurate and efficient information to students and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Work experience in counseling, social support services, financial management, and/or job placement.
  • Ability to process and respond quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly to student crisis.
  • Effective time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with occasional local and regional travel.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, promoting inclusivity and respect.
  • Excellent social, interpersonal, and writing skills, with strong communication and reporting abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of experience in personal finances, employment supports, and customer care, with a focus on budgeting, asset building, and financial management.
  • Certification in financial planning, preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of local community resources, social services environments, and community organizations in Indianapolis, Marion County, and Hendricks counties.
  • General knowledge and understanding of the needs of a low-income working population, as well as knowledge of available community resources.
