Summary of Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will oversee property accounting for multiple locations, working closely with property and regional managers to ensure precise, timely, and comprehensive financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze financial data, reconcile bank accounts and financial statements, prepare journal entries, and assist in budget preparation.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial reports, variance analyses, executive summaries, budgets, and reconciliations.
  • Establish, implement, and uphold accounting controls, policies, and procedures to improve departmental workflow and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for the year-end financial audit.
  • Collaborate with property and regional managers to ensure timely and accurate pre-close activities.
  • Manage recruitment, interviewing, associate development, and performance feedback.
  • Proactively engage with clients regarding property profitability and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial deadlines related to debt, funding, and financial statements.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • A CPA license is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in an accounting role is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in property management is preferred.
  • Direct management experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of GAAP within the multifamily property management sector is preferred.

Skills and Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including functions).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Foster a work environment that encourages associates to excel by sharing a common vision and providing coaching and development.
  • Must complete Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training, along with any other assigned courses.

Scheduling

Must maintain a regular schedule, which may include overtime, weekends, and non-traditional holidays.
