How will you contribute to our team?

In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes Design Build railway project environment.
  • Prepare and evaluate material take-offs based on planning documents or engineering schematics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the estimating team, liaising with the Design Builder's contracts and change management divisions.
  • Conduct thorough breakdowns of components and elements for cost estimates across various systems and subsystems.
  • Review contract documents and amendments to ascertain the scope of work and suitable cost allocations for changes in scope.
  • Generate accurate quantity take-offs from existing design resources.
  • Assist senior team members in enhancing project efficiency and accuracy while maintaining an updated estimates database.
  • Improve project efficiency through detailed breakdowns of components for systems and subsystems, presenting findings to senior management.
  • Support the Project Management team in contract administration between stakeholders and the Design Build Contractor.
What qualifications are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience, ideally in large-scale civil, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
  • At least 8 years of experience in cost estimation within the heavy civil construction and railway sectors.
  • Expertise in developing detailed estimates for railway construction projects, covering various aspects such as track installation, electrical systems, signaling, and high-speed rail environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple estimate reviews concurrently.
  • Experience in contract administration and a solid understanding of change management principles and practices.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with Design Build Contractors and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, management, Design Build Contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
