Position Overview

AECOM is actively seeking a Cultural Resources Compliance Specialist to join our Environmental Planning Group. In this role, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), state-level reviews, and environmental permitting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing technical resource reports and analyses concerning cultural and tribal resources.
  • Engaging with clients and technical experts to facilitate project success.
  • Supporting public outreach initiatives to promote community engagement.
  • Contributing to a collaborative and positive company culture.

This position requires strong communication, technical, and writing skills, along with a keen attention to detail. You should be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in complex planning studies and development applications.
  • Analyze impacts related to comprehensive land management plans.
  • Conduct research and prepare resource reports on cultural and tribal resources.
  • Provide expertise on cultural resource laws and planning to project managers and clients.
  • Coordinate with agency cultural resource representatives and tribal members regarding project activities.
  • Assist member communities with land use and resource management projects.
  • Develop regional plans, studies, and analyses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, environmental science, policy, planning, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with NEPA compliance, cultural resources, or environmental permitting.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience in planning for recreation, land use, or wilderness areas.

Compensation and Benefits

AECOM offers a competitive compensation package based on location and qualifications, with an expected range of $50,000 to $80,000.
