Advanced Cardiovascular Specialist is a dynamic and expanding heart and vascular clinic in search of a Healthcare Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong capacity for multitasking. In this role, you will assist in preparing patients for their medical appointments, support the healthcare provider in delivering care, and maintain patient health records as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for their medical appointments by guiding and/or accompanying them to the examination room; assisting them in positioning for examinations and/or treatments; organizing examination room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Confirm patient information by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or documenting medical histories; taking vital signs; verifying the purpose of visits or treatments.
- Facilitate patient care by assisting healthcare providers during examinations; preparing patients for imaging procedures; performing electrocardiograms; disposing of contaminated materials; processing medication refills as directed; calling in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Educate patients by providing information on medications and dietary instructions; addressing inquiries.
- Complete documentation by recording patient examinations, treatments, and test outcomes.
- Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality and protect operations by maintaining the confidentiality of patient care information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Uphold the integrity of the physician or healthcare provider's practice by following professional standards, policies, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations, including Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
- Enhance professional knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities; reading relevant publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in healthcare organizations.
- Contribute to the reputation of the healthcare practice by taking ownership of new and diverse requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Clinical experience is essential; experience in cardiology is preferred.
- BCLS certification or willingness to obtain certification if offered employment.
- Flexibility in clinic scheduling.
- Treat all patients, callers, visitors, and staff with respect, courtesy, kindness, and dignity.
Desired Qualifications:
- BLS Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
- Familiarity with Athena, ADP Workforce Now, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements:
This position necessitates a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; communicate verbally and audibly, both in person and via telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in a typical medical clinic and/or business office setting. Clinical work may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious pathogens. Employees must be capable of using protective equipment as required.
