Residency Program Director

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Residency Program Director for its Family Medicine Residency Program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in the education of residents, sound clinical and teaching abilities, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the mission and vision of the Family Medicine Residency Program, establishing and maintaining its objectives and measures of effectiveness.
  • Supervises the administration of the program, participating in the budgeting process and providing a written Residency Strategic Plan annually to the Department of Family Medicine.
  • Maintains accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and conducts ongoing review of the program as required.
  • Directs the educational curriculum for residents, participating in the selection, training, and evaluation of their performance.
  • Provides faculty oversight, responsible for the selection and monitoring of faculty appointments, assignments, outcomes, and proper conduct of educational activities.
  • Oversees the research and scholarly activities of faculty and residents, enhancing clinical research among them.
  • Directs the recruitment activities of the Residency Program, recruiting, retaining, and promoting high-caliber residents who exhibit interest and commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education.
  • Acts as a liaison between internal and external organizations and the Residency, establishing and maintaining an education liaison with major academic institutions.
  • Represents the Residency locally, regionally, and nationally, contributing to the diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments of the organization.
