Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and promoting the psychosocial development of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement psychosocial programs to foster emotional, developmental, intellectual, and physical growth in children.
  • Provide planned, routine psychosocial care to children and families, designed to reduce stress, increase adaptive coping, and enhance developmental integrity.
  • Use developmentally appropriate and approved play experiences to assess and meet the child's psychosocial needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Provide emotional support and stress reduction techniques to children and families during identified stress points.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Completion of a Child Life internship with a minimum of 600 hours under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • Child Life Certification required within 12 months of hire.
