Divert is proactively addressing these challenges, making substantial strides towards eliminating food waste through our unique solutions, which include transforming wasted food into renewable energy and providing nourishment to those in need.

We collaborate with leading retailers in the industry, such as Ahold Delhaize, Albertsons, CVS, Kroger, and Target, operating in nearly 5,400 retail locations across the U.S. Our comprehensive approach encompasses technology, logistics, and anaerobic digestion facilities to assist retailers in achieving their sustainability objectives. Annually, we process over 232,000 tons of food waste and have facilitated the donation of more than 10 million pounds of food to individuals in need through partnerships with major food retailers and local nonprofits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operations at our industrial food waste processing facility.
  • Foster a culture of productivity and respect among team members.
  • Manage accountability to established work processes and provide hands-on leadership in daily operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure effective communication within the facility and across the organization.
  • Directly supervise, recruit, and train Operators and Maintenance staff, offering guidance and performance evaluations.
  • Manage the operational flow of the plant, including production scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and facility cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance to minimize operational downtime.
  • Enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Collaborate with various departments to optimize plant performance and meet production goals.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate material procurement to support production needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Prepare performance reports detailing production metrics, quality control data, and safety incidents.

Physical Requirements:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, candidates must meet specific physical requirements, including the ability to operate a forklift, engage in repetitive tasks, and manage varying temperatures and humidity levels in the work environment.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Capability to bend, stand, walk, sit, and kneel regularly.
  • Comfortable transitioning on and off a forklift while handling multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in operating equipment and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an operations management role with experience in hiring and personnel management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading production or processing systems.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions based on data analysis.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with machinery operation and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
