In the United States, over 100 million tons of food are wasted each year, with more than half ending up in landfills or incinerators. This waste contributes to 8% to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Divert is addressing these challenges directly, making substantial strides toward eliminating food waste through unique methods, including converting waste into renewable energy and supporting those in need.

We collaborate with leading retailers such as Ahold Delhaize, Albertsons, CVS, Kroger, and Target, serving nearly 5,400 retail locations nationwide. Our technology, logistics, and anaerobic digestion facilities empower retailers to achieve their sustainability objectives. Annually, we process over 232,000 tons of food waste and have facilitated the donation of more than 10 million pounds of food to those in need through partnerships with major food retailers and local nonprofits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operations at our food waste processing facility, ensuring a culture of productivity and respect.
  • Manage the hiring, training, and performance feedback for Operators and Maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate daily operations, including production scheduling and resource management.
  • Monitor production processes to identify improvement opportunities and implement efficiency measures.
  • Operate machinery and equipment following established safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and facility cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance to minimize operational downtime.
  • Enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance plant performance and meet production goals.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate material procurement to support production needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Prepare reports on plant performance, including production metrics and safety incidents.

Physical Requirements:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the physical demands of the position, which include:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Capability to bend, stand, walk, sit, and kneel regularly.
  • Comfortable operating a forklift and managing multiple tasks throughout a shift.
  • Able to handle potential temperature changes and humidity in the work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an operations management role with experience in hiring and personnel management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading production or processing systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with machinery operation and hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
