Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the fitness room and ensure a safe and clean environment for members
  • Greet and acknowledge members, providing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
  • Motivate and educate members on leading healthy lifestyles, including proper use of exercise equipment
  • Integrate the mission of the YMCA and promote the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility
  • Support the retention of members and promote personal training, classes, and wellness-related opportunities
  • Respect the individual goals, needs, and perspectives of each member
  • Know and abide by YMCA policies and procedures, including accident and incident reports and the code of conduct
  • Demonstrate support for the YMCA Reach out for Youth (ROFY) program through member awareness, recruiting volunteers, and participation in events
  • Ensure a neat, clean, and organized Wellness Center, including all workout areas, paperwork, towels, and cleaning supplies
Requirements
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the core values of the Hockomock YMCA
  • Understanding of cardio and strength equipment training principles
  • Ability to successfully guide participants through an equipment orientation
  • Certifications, including CPR & First Aid (within 60 days of hire)
