Rock Climbing Adventure Leaders at the YMCA of Greater Seattle are passionate about helping individuals push their limits and achieve their goals. As a certified instructor, you will be responsible for leading rock climbing programs for various age groups and skill levels, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and inclusivity, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to diverse situations.

About the Role

This is a variable schedule position, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. As a Rock Climbing Adventure Leader, you will be responsible for planning and implementing specialized programs, setting up and breaking down equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized climbing environment. You will also be required to instruct, train, and coach individuals and groups, as well as communicate effectively with participants of various ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement specialized rock climbing programs for various age groups and skill levels.
  • Set up and break down equipment, ensuring a safe and organized climbing environment.
  • Instruct, train, and coach individuals and groups, providing clear and concise instructions and feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with participants of various ages and abilities, adapting to diverse situations and needs.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, responding to potential safety scenarios and emergencies as needed.

Requirements

  • Certification in rock climbing and belaying.
  • Previous experience working with children and teens in group settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse situations and needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Physical stamina to work at heights, lift equipment, and perform participant rescues as needed.
