KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist eligible individuals with disabilities in preparing for, securing, maintaining, and advancing in competitive employment, including aiding students with disabilities in their transition from high school to further education and employment.
- Establish and nurture relationships with community resources, businesses, employers, and educational institutions.
- Gather and evaluate necessary information to make informed eligibility decisions.
- Guide clients in selecting suitable employment by assessing their strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, and interests, and aligning this with the job market.
- Collaborate with clients to create a service plan aimed at achieving their employment objectives.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery and monitor client progress towards their employment goals.
- Develop and implement strategies leading to successful job placements.
- Utilize best practices in purchasing and leverage available benefits and services for effective public fund usage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from an accredited institution.
- OR a master's degree in counseling or related fields (e.g., Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services) with one year of relevant experience.
- OR a master's degree in any field with two years of relevant experience.
- OR a bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation with one year of relevant experience.
- OR a bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Public Health with two years of relevant experience.
- OR a bachelor's degree in any field with three years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes case management, counseling, job placement, and knowledge of disabilities.
- No experience required if the candidate meets Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) criteria.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in social work, rehabilitation, or a related field.
Selected applicants without a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or relevant credentials will need to fulfill CSPD educational requirements upon employment.
This position may require travel, and the employee is responsible for their transportation. Counselors must regularly travel to meet with assigned clients. Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
