Staff Engineer for Advanced Mechanical Systems in Genomics

SequLITE Genomics, a pioneering entity in the life sciences sector, is on the lookout for a dedicated Staff Mechanical Engineer to enhance our Next Generation Sequencer Development team. This role is ideal for an inventive and collaborative engineer with extensive experience in mechanical design and platform development specifically tailored for Next Generation Sequencing instruments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive mechanical and fluidic research to validate technical performance.
- Design, prototype, and fabricate essential consumable components and instrumental interfaces.
- Develop thermal cycling modules and mechanical clamping systems for seamless part integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish critical design parameters for system-level development.
- Engage in innovative breakthroughs across various system modules and their integration.
- Coordinate with manufacturing partners to streamline the development process.
- Contribute to strategic planning and execution of nanopore sequencing technologies, including research and design layout.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines with over 5 years of practical experience in mechanical, thermal, and fluidic domains within R&D teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through experimental work.
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD design and Finite Element Analysis.
- Experience with LabView and/or Python programming.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and micromachining.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth understanding of next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Knowledge of core Product Development processes including critical parameter management and FMEA.
- Experience in constructing testbeds and beta prototypes.
- Familiarity with force/torque measurement techniques.
- Experience with data analysis software such as JMP.
- Strong connections with key development and manufacturing vendors.
