Job Description and Duties

As a key member of the Department of Education-School for the Deaf-Fremont team, the successful candidate will provide critical support to students with behavior challenges. Under the supervision of the PPS Director and guidance of the Behavior Specialist, the ideal candidate will work closely with students, staff, and parents to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor student behavior and provide coaching on coping skills to promote successful reintegration into classes.
  • Support students as outlined in the Behavioral Support Plan and Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Use prompts as outlined in the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) or instructed by the Behavioral Specialist.
  • Assist staff with behavior needs during transitions to and from activities.
  • Tally students' behavior for data entry in BIP.
  • Participate in multi-discipline behavior review meetings and occasionally IEP meetings to review students' progress.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with behavior and emotional challenges for all ages and grades.
  • Team player with high flexibility and dependability.
  • High level of stamina and patience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
