Job Summary:

The Personnel Supervisor I is a key member of the Human Resources team at the California School for the Deaf, Fremont. Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I (Human Resources Director), this role is responsible for overseeing personnel transaction functions, ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, policies, and bargaining unit contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and lead a team of Personnel Specialists to ensure efficient and effective personnel transaction functions.
  • Apply various State and Federal laws, rules, policies, and bargaining unit contracts to ensure compliance and make determinations based on constantly changing policy, workload, and deadlines.
  • Exercise high degree of initiative and independent judgment in making decisions.

Requirements:

  • Current employment with the State of California or eligible for reinstatement.
  • Eligibility for lateral transfer, list, or LEAP eligibility.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
