Job Overview

The Schochet Companies is currently in search of a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to support our corporate operations.

As a prominent entity in multifamily development and property management, particularly in affordable housing, we manage a significant portfolio that includes nearly 5,500 residential units and 125,000 square feet of commercial properties across New England. We seek a talented individual to contribute their expertise to our dynamic organization, collaborating with a team of top professionals focused on the development and acquisition of essential affordable housing and multifamily assets, aimed at enhancing the quality and appeal of the communities we serve.

The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for overseeing payroll processing, financial reporting, and various HR administrative functions for our workforce of approximately 200 employees. This role also encompasses benefits management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and execute bi-weekly payroll processing for two entities, ensuring precision and meticulous attention to detail.
  2. Handle onboarding, terminations, and any employee-related changes within the payroll system.
  3. Facilitate new hire orientations.
  4. Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
  5. Administer benefits for new hires and those exiting the company.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, exhibit strong organizational skills, and possess self-motivation. Reliable transportation is necessary, as occasional travel to various locations in New England may be required. A background of 1-3 years in payroll or HR, coupled with robust computer skills and prior experience with payroll software, is preferred; familiarity with Paycom is advantageous.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; 35 hours per week.

Benefits: We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, 401k, and more, effective from the first day of employment. New employees accrue three weeks of vacation annually, in addition to 12 paid holidays, five sick days, and three personal days each year, along with various other benefits.
