POSITION TITLE: Medical Director - Exempt Role

Compensation: $230,000 - $250,000

REPORTING TO: President and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Clinical Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with executive leadership in program development and policy formulation for medical and pharmaceutical services.
  2. Ensure adherence to quality improvement initiatives that meet patient needs and comply with relevant regulations.
  3. Oversee recruitment and management of medical staff, including physicians and advanced practice providers.
  4. Develop and manage fellowship programs in partnership with local healthcare institutions.
  5. Conduct training sessions for clinical staff to address evolving trends in behavioral health care.
  6. Assist in the creation and rollout of innovative programs.
  7. Promote the integration of physical and behavioral health services across all initiatives.
  8. Work with management to establish and meet organizational objectives.
  9. Implement and uphold agency policies and procedures.
  10. Provide after-hours support as necessary.
  11. Initiate further testing when clinically indicated.
  12. Design and evaluate treatment plans that enhance health outcomes.
  13. Facilitate referrals to additional healthcare services as needed.
  14. Collaborate with program leaders to develop comprehensive services that address the whole person.
  15. Offer consultations to other programs within the organization.
  16. Participate in the formulation and execution of all medical programs and services.
  17. Coordinate consultations with external providers regarding patient diagnosis and treatment.
  18. Engage with community agencies and clinics to ensure coordinated care.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Medical Degree required; specialization in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred.
  2. Active WA State DOH medical license with prescriptive authority; additional addiction-related certifications preferred.
  3. Experience with patients facing complex co-morbidities.
  4. Proven ability to cultivate relationships within a diverse team of healthcare providers.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Exceptional management capabilities.
  7. Proficient computer skills.
  8. Effective interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

GUIDELINES:

The role necessitates maintaining certification and licensure standards as outlined in relevant state regulations. The incumbent will rely on specialized training and experience in treating physical and behavioral health disorders.

COMPLEXITY:

This position involves oversight of programs catering to a diverse patient population with varying ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, addressing a range of chronic and serious behavioral health issues. Autonomy, clinical expertise, sound judgment, and creativity are essential for identifying and implementing effective policies and treatment strategies.

PERSONAL CONTACTS:

Interactions will occur with treatment team members, patients, their families, board members, and representatives from community agencies specializing in physical and behavioral health.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires regular sitting, speaking, hearing, and using hands for writing and typing. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 15 lbs may be necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Most work will be conducted indoors, in proximity to patients.
