KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Medical Director collaborates closely with the Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President of Quality and Corporate Compliance in strategic program development, policy formulation for medical and pharmaceutical services, and oversight of clinical staff within the organization. The following duties are performed independently:
- Review relevant Washington Administrative Codes (WACs), Revised Codes (RCWs), CARF Standards, and Federal regulations governing all medical and psychiatric services.
- Ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives address patient needs while adhering to WACs, RCWs, and Federal Regulations. The Medical Director partners with the VP of Quality and Corporate Compliance to evaluate the outcomes of the Quality Assurance and Improvement program, directing efforts towards enhancing quality and medical treatment results.
- Recruit, manage, and cultivate relationships among physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
- Develop and oversee Fellowship programs in collaboration with local hospitals and community partners.
- Conduct in-service training for clinical staff to address evolving trends in behavioral health medical care.
- Assist in the creation and execution of new programs.
- Promote the integration of physical and behavioral health across all service offerings.
- Collaborate with management to establish and achieve organizational goals.
- Support and enforce organizational policies and procedures.
- Be available after hours to provide higher-level oversight as needed.
- Initiate requests for additional testing when necessary.
- Identify, develop, implement, and assess treatment plans that aim to promote, maintain, and restore health.
- Refer patients to appropriate healthcare services and facilities when required.
- Work collaboratively with program directors and supervisors to develop innovative services that address the holistic needs of patients.
- Provide consultation as needed by other programs within the organization.
- Participate in the development and implementation of all medical programs and services.
- Coordinate consultations with other providers regarding patient diagnosis and treatment when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other medical organizations and pharmaceutical companies to create specialized training programs for staff and stakeholders.
- Maintain positive relationships and coordination of care with community agencies and clinics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Medical Degree is required; preference for a qualified Addictologist.
- Current Washington State Department of Health medical license with prescriptive authority; additional addiction certifications or training are preferred.
- Experience in managing patients with complex co-morbidities.
- Ability to establish rapport and foster relationships within a diverse team of healthcare providers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities.
