POSITION TITLE: Medical Director - Exempt Role
Compensation: $230,000 - $250,000
REPORTING TO: President and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Clinical Officer
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to plan programs and develop medical service policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Codes (WACs), Revised Codes (RCWs), CARF Standards, and Federal regulations governing medical and psychiatric services.
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to meet patient needs and regulatory compliance.
- Recruit and supervise a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Develop and manage Fellowship programs in partnership with local hospitals and community organizations.
- Conduct training sessions for clinical staff to address evolving trends in behavioral health care.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of innovative programs that integrate physical and behavioral health.
- Work with management to establish and achieve organizational goals.
- Support and enforce agency policies and procedures.
- Provide after-hours availability for higher-level oversight as needed.
- Initiate additional testing when warranted.
- Design and evaluate treatment plans aimed at promoting and restoring health.
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare services when appropriate.
- Collaborate with program directors to develop holistic services.
- Offer consultation to other programs within the agency.
- Participate in the development of all medical programs and services.
- Coordinate consultations with other providers regarding patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Engage with community agencies and clinics to maintain positive relationships and ensure coordinated care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Degree required; specialization in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred.
- Current Washington State DOH medical license with prescriptive authority; additional addiction certifications preferred.
- Experience with patients presenting complex co-morbidities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport within a diverse team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven management skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Effective conflict-resolution capabilities.
GUIDELINES:
The incumbent must maintain certification and qualification standards as outlined in relevant state codes and regulations, ensuring compliance with Department of Health licensure requirements.
COMPLEXITY:
This role involves oversight of programs catering to a diverse patient population with varying ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, addressing a range of chronic and serious social, behavioral, and psychological issues.
PERSONAL CONTACTS:
Interactions include treatment team members, patients, their significant others, Board of Directors, and representatives from community agencies focused on physical and behavioral health treatment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential functions require the ability to sit, speak clearly, hear, and use hands for writing and typing. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 15 lbs may be necessary.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is conducted indoors, in proximity to patients.
