Position Overview

The Director of Finance & Administration will report directly to the Executive Director and will be an integral part of the leadership team, managing a dedicated group of six professionals, including the Office Manager and Claims Manager. This role encompasses overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee comprehensive accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and funding reimbursements.
  • Ensure adherence to Market Access Program (MAP) regulations and other agricultural promotion initiatives.
  • Supervise the Claims Manager and Claims Coordinators to guarantee timely processing of claims.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), focusing on forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Manage billing and collections processes efficiently.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, including payroll and investment accounts.
  • Oversee daily cash flow management for the organization.
  • Act as the primary liaison with auditors and insurance providers.
  • Maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Ensure legal and tax compliance, including management of the retirement plan and necessary insurance coverage.
  • Safeguard all leases and contracts affecting the organization’s financial status.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to maintain effective audit programs.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for departmental reviews and Board meetings.
  • Enhance financial modeling and reporting to support operational analysis.
  • Assess and mitigate organizational risks related to investments.
  • Manage change notifications for Unified Export Strategy and submit annual applications.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to address financial inquiries.
  • Supervise the Office Manager, who coordinates Human Resources and administrative functions.
  • Facilitate training sessions to develop team competencies and ensure high performance.
  • Promote a culture of trust, integrity, and accountability within the organization.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment that values diversity and equity.
  • Travel requirements include occasional overnight trips, both domestically and internationally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in fiscal analysis and accounting.
  • At least two years of experience in a managerial role overseeing direct reports.
  • Proficient in GAAP accounting principles and financial management practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, fostering a supportive work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building collaborative relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strategic perspective.
  • Preference for candidates residing in PST/MST time zones.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed, approximately 10% of the time.

Compensation:

This position is exempt, with a salary range of $80,000 to $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
