Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Full-Time Educational Support Specialist to join our team. As an Instructional Assistant - Special Education, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs in a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide support with math, reading, speech, and independent skills development.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Accompany students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences, to promote socialization and inclusion.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other school professionals to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and classroom information.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by teachers and other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Provide assistance with transfers and ambulation, as needed.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program, as applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully complete new hire training, as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
