Position Overview:
- The Senior Compensation Accountant role is responsible for overseeing the compilation and analysis of compensation-related expenses, which includes:
- Managing the preparation of general ledger entries and reconciliations to ensure a timely month-end closing process.
- Supervising the preparation and presentation of balance sheet and income statement results along with relevant analyses.
- Overseeing the preparation and evaluation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring resolution of outstanding items.
- Ensuring adherence to GAAP and SOX controls, including reviewing contracts for appropriate capital and operational expense recognition.
- Facilitating the coordination of internal and external audit processes.
- Assisting in the documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Leading and mentoring other accountants within the department.
- Supporting special projects as needed.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and a foundational knowledge of accounting functions and internal controls.
- Intermediate proficiency in GAAP with the capability to research and resolve accounting applications.
- Strong analytical and auditing capabilities, with a focus on researching and reconciling account balances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels, including management and auditors.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with JD Edwards, SQL, and Essbase is advantageous.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is also a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Occasional standing, walking, and bending (0-33%).
- Continuous sitting (67-100%).
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing 1-15 lbs (0-33%).
- Frequent fine manipulation and repetitive hand actions (34-66%).
- Continuous hearing and near vision (67-100%).
- Occasional far vision and peripheral vision (0-33%).
