Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse II to join our team at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute. As a Registered Nurse II, you will provide advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Experience working in a psychiatric setting, preferably with individuals with mental illness, substance misuse disorders, and/or involvement in the judicial system
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disorders
  • Knowledge of therapeutic options and crisis intervention techniques
