Your Responsibilities as a Hospice Care Assistant:

  • Report to the Administrator or Patient Care Manager and work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Help create a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals.
  • Support patients with feeding as necessary.
  • Assist patients with mobility and ambulation.
  • Facilitate the safe use of mobility aids as instructed by nursing staff.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Assist with specific treatments as outlined in the care plan.
  • Encourage patient engagement in activities to promote mental alertness.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Report any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing team.
  • Educate primary caregivers on basic care practices.
  • Implement infection control protocols.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of visits.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Complete required documentation promptly.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications for Hospice Care Assistant:

  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to provide care in various home settings.
  • Flexibility and composure in challenging situations.
  • Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Preferred six months of experience in hospice, home health, or related fields.
  • Additional experience in nursing or critical care settings is advantageous.
  • Current driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
