Job Summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant II to work in the Surgery Specialty Clinic. This is a part-time position with a 70% schedule, offering a competitive hourly rate of $19.21 to commensurate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support patients and families in the clinic setting, providing exceptional care and service.
  • Assist with physical examinations, patient history, medication records, and related treatments.
  • Manage medical records, ensuring accurate and complete data for patient appointments.
  • Administer routine medications, perform laboratory tests, and take vital signs.
  • Provide psychological support to patients and families, based on assessed needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, identify vaccination needs, and complete online education programs.
  • Perform related clerical tasks, including answering phones and providing information to other departments.
Requirements
  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program.
  • Completion of a healthcare profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program.
