Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team at the University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients, including taking medical histories, administering medications, and performing laboratory tests.
  • Manage medical records and ensure accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood work, and assist with electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed.
  • Identify vaccination needs for specific patient populations and perform related clerical tasks, including answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Assist in obtaining insurance prior authorizations and provide information to other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program.
  • Completion of a healthcare profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program, including pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and medication administration.
