Director of Student Health and Wellness

About the Role:
The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly experienced and skilled administrator to serve as the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. This senior leader will provide strategic leadership and oversight for student health and wellbeing, including University Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Recreation, and Health Promotion and Wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for student health and wellbeing initiatives, with a focus on student success, equity, and student learning.
- Supervise the directors of University Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Recreation, and Health Promotion and Wellness.
- Represent the Vice President for Student Affairs on university working groups and committees.
- Support human resources, budget planning and management, and strategic planning within the units.
- Provide support and structure to Commonwealth Campus colleagues working in student health and wellbeing.
- Work closely with student governments, student advisory boards, and other student leaders.
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative and leadership roles in higher education.
- Doctorate preferred.
- Proven success in a management/leadership role.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of student affairs and college health and mental health.
- A high level of cultural competence in working with diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in engaging with student leaders.
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, administration, and community partners.
