Position Title: Academic Counselor

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Academic Counselor role within the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) is essential for providing comprehensive academic support to student-athletes. Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Football Academic Support Services, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the academic success and eligibility of student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage academic support services for designated football student-athletes, including monitoring their academic performance and eligibility status.
  • Communicate regularly with coaching staff, athletic administration, and the MAC Director regarding student-athlete academic progress.
  • Facilitate one section of the first-year seminar course tailored for student-athletes.
  • Guide student-athletes to appropriate university resources as needed.
  • Engage with prospective student-athletes and their families during the recruitment process.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director and Associate Director.
  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments is required.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Master's degree in a relevant field such as counselor education, psychology, social work, or higher education administration, along with a minimum of one year of pertinent experience.

Compliance with NCAA and Big Ten Conference regulations is mandatory. Background clearances required include a PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
