Job Overview

Reporting Structure

The Technical Support Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Support Supervisor.

Position Summary

The Technical Support Engineer will collaborate with various members of the Engineering Team to accomplish a range of responsibilities. This role is essential in assisting with project management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify wire connections between devices within the same panel according to wiring diagrams.
  • Create device labels by extracting information from device label IDs on wiring diagrams and inputting that data into Excel.
  • Utilize AutoCAD or ESS software to generate wire markers manually.
  • Input data into the Term Strip template by following specific commands and procedures in AutoCAD.
  • Generate nameplate files in AutoCAD, either by using Excel data or creating them from scratch.
  • Modify existing AutoCAD files or draft new ones as necessary.
  • Prepare files for AC/DC panel board cards and print them on cardstock for circuit breakers.
  • Scan provided drawings in a specified sequence using a plotter to create computer files.
  • Interpret and differentiate between various types of drawings, including structural, layout, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Develop control cable and communication cable schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sits, grasps items, and performs keyboarding for standard computer operations.
  • Engages in standing, walking, bending, reaching, or moving about frequently.
  • Occasionally lifts, moves, or transfers items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • May encounter typical physical hazards associated with manufacturing environments.
