Licensure/Certification:
  1. M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree.
  2. American Board of Pathology (ABP) Certification in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology.
  3. Licensed in the relevant jurisdiction as required for practice.
Position Overview:

THE ROLE
The College of Medicine is in search of a dynamic leader with a distinguished background in academic medicine, particularly in pathology and laboratory medicine. The chair will engage in both clinical practice and academic responsibilities, contributing to the department's mission and vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The chair will play a crucial role in executing the organization’s strategic initiatives and will work towards achieving departmental excellence across various quality metrics. This position will act as a key link between the department and the broader institution, reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Medicine. Responsibilities will include strategic planning, service development, and outreach efforts aimed at market growth and recruitment to fulfill departmental objectives.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with internal and external leadership to establish a framework for high-quality clinical services that integrates scholarly activities and education.
  • Foster and sustain professional relationships with clinical leaders, including physician groups and external stakeholders, to enhance revenue opportunities and improve service delivery.
  • Establish and refine departmental protocols, objectives, and implementation strategies that align with the vision of becoming a leader in academic pathology and a respected service provider.
  • Oversee quality assurance and performance evaluation for clinical staff, including physicians, fellows, and residents.
  • Conduct annual reviews of provider performance.
  • Recruit and mentor individuals of integrity within a culture that promotes respect, collaboration, and professional satisfaction.
