About the Role

UPMC is seeking a skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our Community Treatment Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to residents of Allegheny County in community settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intense outpatient mental health treatment in a variety of settings to consumers with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Assist in consumer service and clinical services, including answering questions, obtaining clinical information, and scheduling outpatient evaluations.
  • Respond to telephone crisis and document all duties.
  • Facilitate or co-lead small groups of consumers or significant others to increase understanding of consumer issues and improve coping skills.
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of patient records in compliance with institutional standards.
  • Provide insight and knowledge of insurance programs, processes, and obtain authorizations as needed.
  • Submit documentation that is professional in content and appearance by established deadlines.
  • Assist consumers to set goals and plan to meet those goals based on consumer's strengths, needs, interests, and cultural preferences.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation and team meetings in a collaborative manner.
  • Provide consultation and direct assistance to DEC or community ER staff in the case of at-risk consumers presenting for treatment.
  • Assist consumers to obtain and maintain culturally appropriate basic living needs through referral and assertive follow-up, advocacy, and problem resolution.
  • Participate in working weekend rotation and maintain a minimum productivity rate of 55%.
  • Complete consumer/family crisis assessments and collaborate with team members to provide needed services to coordinate with other community agencies.
  • Work efficiently and independently, and participate in and/or complete a comprehensive assessment of identified clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Three to six years of clinical experience, depending on level of education.
  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.
  • Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations and ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) training required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • License in Social Work or Professional Counseling preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor (or obtain certification within 6 months of hire) preferred.
