CFA Institute is currently in search of talented individuals to enhance our expanding Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting Practice as an Actuarial Consultant. This role necessitates the candidate to collaborate with a team of experts to independently evaluate intricate issues and devise feasible solutions for self-insured clients. The selected candidate will engage with CFA Institute's clientele, which encompasses substantial self-insured corporations, captive insurance entities, state regulatory bodies, and P&C insurance firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Concentrate on loss reserving initiatives with additional tasks in pricing/ratemaking, predictive analytics, economic capital modeling, and loyalty reward schemes.
  • Demonstrate the capability to integrate into ongoing projects, assuming responsibility for project tasks and ensuring effective client communication.
  • Review and validate analysts' work, ensuring technical precision and integrity across a variety of analyses, templates, and reports.
  • Compile, verify, and conduct reasonability checks on client data.
  • Utilize complex actuarial theories and principles to construct statistical models.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the production of reports and exhibits to communicate findings.
  • Assist or lead in crafting proposals and presentations for potential clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and marketing presentations as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of two actuarial exams completed, with further progress towards ACAS/FCAS preferred.
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience within the property and casualty sector, specifically with Property and Casualty clients such as large self-insured corporations, captives, (re)insurers, and state regulators. Previous consulting experience is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, with a talent for prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to cultivate strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of fostering a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the practice and across the organization.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support client engagements and business development efforts.
  • Self-driven and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to formulate client-focused solutions.
  • Collaborative team player, adept at working effectively in a cross-functional setting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with R, SAS, SQL, or VBA is a plus.
