Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pulmonary and Medical Intermediate Care unit at University Hospital in Madison, WI. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive and specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and complex medical diagnoses.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care to patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant.
  • Collaborate with the care team to promote smooth transitions among levels of care, including critical care units and the acute progressive care unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and evidence-based care.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement within the unit.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of WI or a compact state.
  • Minimum 6 months of nursing experience or current participation in the UW Health Nurse Residency Program.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification and ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and relevant certification in Medical-Surgical and/or Progressive Care Nursing.
