Pulmonary Clinic Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in the Pulmonary Clinics. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including taking vitals, noting patient needs and concerns, and assisting with clinic procedures and exams.
  • Work collaboratively with our healthcare team to promote healthy lifestyles, wellness, and education.
  • Responsible for important preparation work, including rooming patients and preparing them for exams.
  • Provide quality care in a compassionate and patient-family centered environment.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Ambulatory or clinic experience, including rooming patients.
  • Epic experience highly preferred.
  • Prior traveler experience required.
  • Certified as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or LPN.
  • BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY.
Additional Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or two (2) years of recent Medical Assistant experience and current CMA, RMA or CCMA certification.
  • Reference Needs: 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years).
Working Conditions:

Floating between 600 Highland Avenue, Madison, WI and 202 S Park Street, Madison. Permit required through UW Transportation for 600 Highland Ave, free parking for S Park Street.

Position Urgency: Quick Start. Shifts: 40 hrs/week, Days, 8 hr shifts, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm depending on clinic needs. No weekends.

***Greetings Welcome to UW Hospital. Basic Arrhythmia competency is an RN requirement here. You will be taking a 20 strip exam to demonstrate that competency and must get an 80% on the test and correctly identify our 4 lethal rhythms (Asystole, V-Tach, V-fib, and 3rd Degree AV Block)***

***All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication from UWHC to your agency.***
