Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Coach to join our team at the State of Oregon. As a Family Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting families to become self-sufficient while meeting their basic needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews with participants to determine family need and eligibility.
  • Explore alternate resources and link clients to community services.
  • Complete program applications for program benefits and, if eligible, issue appropriate support payments.
  • Engage clients in family evaluation of strengths.
  • Jointly develop a case plan and identify the steps the family will take toward self-sufficiency.
  • Assess initial applicants, their family situation, and on-going participants to develop, coordinate, and arrange a variety of services to assist and guide families to become self-sufficient.
  • Monitor progress, needs, and make necessary modifications to the family's case plan.
  • Coordinate case management functions with other service providers.
  • Initiate and participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, supported job search as needed.
Working Conditions:
  • Position is fast-paced.
  • High volume of individual and family contact.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of customers and will need to respond with compassion and professionalism.
  • Hours of work may vary from day to day and may include evenings and weekends.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. If no driver's license, must be able to provide alternate method of transportation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in any field and one year of human services related experience.
  • OR Associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field and two years of human services related experience.
  • OR Three years of human services related experience.
  • Resume, or Workday profile required.
Essential Attributes:
  • Knowledge of Strengths-Based Case Management.
  • Experience conducting home visits.
  • Experience with teamwork and staffing collaboratively with community partners and families.
  • Experience with Holistic Family Assessment and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to multi-task.
