Job Opportunity:

We are excited to announce an opening for a Medical Coding Specialist at Mountain View Hospital. Join our team and play a vital role in converting diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. As a specialist, you will be responsible for assigning ICD-10 CM and/or HCPCS codes, creating APC or DRG group assignments for reimbursement purposes, and ensuring accurate and timely coding of records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate coding of records
  • Review charts thoroughly for all diagnoses and procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians to confirm diagnosis information
  • Code diagnoses/procedures in compliance with ICD-10-CM principles
  • Act as a coding resource and provide education on coding matters
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and data quality
  • Complete all assigned duties promptly and efficiently

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED, CPC certification required

Experience: Minimum of one year related experience or equivalent training

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in using coding software and computer applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills
  • Positive and professional demeanor in all interactions
