Position Overview
As a vital member of the Hopkins Bloomberg Center (HBC) Operations team, the Senior HR Coordinator will deliver comprehensive human resources support and advisory services to department leaders, supervisors, and personnel. This role encompasses a variety of functions including:

recruitment and staffing, compensation management, employee relations, training and development, data management, performance evaluation, benefits guidance, record-keeping, payroll duties, HR policy interpretation, and information dissemination. Additionally, this position may involve initiatives focused on employee engagement and recognition.

Key Responsibilities
General HR Consultation

Provide expert advice to employees and management on HR matters, including HR practices, university policies, employee relations, compensation, training, recruitment, and benefits. Facilitate employee engagement through the creation of departmental action plans.

Act as a liaison with HR Central, Payroll shared services, and the Benefits office to support both new and existing employees.

Employment

Collaborate with managers to gather necessary information for job postings and oversee the process until positions are advertised. Ensure proper onboarding of new hires and accurate data entry in SAP.

Time Management

Work closely with the HR team to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including adherence to state and federal regulations regarding Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and other labor laws. Coordinate initial departmental efforts related to FMLA and short-term disability, including parental and recovery leave.

Monitor and send reminders for various compliance-related requirements such as training and health initiatives.

Employee Relations

Assist in collecting sensitive information for HR matters, including disciplinary actions. Conduct exit interviews for departing employees, manage the retrieval of access badges, and address inquiries related to final compensation and benefits.

Support attendance management and other employee relations activities, tracking performance management processes such as annual reviews and goal-setting.

Continuously assess existing programs and engage in the enhancement of systems and processes or the development of new initiatives.

Payroll/Compensation

Coordinate the annual merit review and introductory review processes, notifying divisional management as necessary. Assist in the initiation of annual merit increases and ensure proper documentation for compensation-related changes.

Prepare and process all necessary documentation for new hires, salary adjustments, personal data changes, and other complex transactions. Resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure compliance with necessary paperwork from new employees.

Additional Duties
Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Three years of relevant experience.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education, in accordance with the JHU equivalency formula.

Proficient in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to collaborate and work effectively with individuals and teams at all organizational levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Initiative and sound judgment are essential. Ability to analyze and report data.
