Our growth trajectory is driven by acquiring new clients, expanding our platform with innovative products, managing additional retail ecommerce channels, and delivering outstanding customer service to achieve high net retention rates.
The Role:
CommerceIQ is seeking a meticulous Senior Accountant, Revenue to enhance our revenue recognition processes and facilitate the transition of accounting operations in-house. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with technical accounting standards such as ASC606 and refining our billing procedures, making process orientation and project management skills essential. With prior experience in revenue accounting, this individual will collaborate closely with our Senior Accounting Manager, Revenue to establish, test, and implement various new processes aimed at improving revenue accounting accuracy and efficiency.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in the revenue recognition process in alignment with ASC 606, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of billing operations, including the preparation of invoicing batches, journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts receivable and collections schedules, commission reports, disclosure schedules for financial statements, and fluctuation analysis to support management decision-making.
- Manage daily revenue accounting tasks to guarantee compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and external audits.
- Coordinate with global accounting teams to maintain consistent application of corporate policies and ASC 606 (including invoicing, collections, deferred revenue amortization, and commission plans and reporting).
- Evaluate and enhance billing processes while contributing to commission plans, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines.
- Support departmental leaders with special projects, research, and supplementary reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on commissions, go-to-market data flows, and other initiatives.
- Engage in process optimization and automation efforts to continuously enhance efficiency and effectiveness through various technological solutions.
- Take an active role in your professional development and partner with management to further your growth.
- Participate in additional assignments and ad hoc projects as necessary.
- A strong desire to learn and a readiness to embrace new challenges.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA track, with a preference for public accounting experience.
- A proactive approach to challenging existing processes and leveraging technology to create scalable solutions, improve efficiencies, and streamline accounting operations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment while ensuring accuracy.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting and build strong relationships with management and colleagues.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition processes and standards such as ASC606.
- Working knowledge of technical accounting under ASC 606 is advantageous, including contract combinations, modifications, standalone selling price, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace applications, including Google Sheets and Google Docs.
- Experience with startup to mid-tier ERPs is a plus, such as NetSuite.
- Prior experience with revenue accounting software and SaaS is preferred.
