Colorectal Surgery Unit RN

Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus is a world-renowned institution for research and surgery, with a commitment to providing world-class patient care and advancing technology. Our H50 nursing unit for Colorectal Surgery is part of the Digestive Disease Institute, ranked second in the nation.

As a dedicated and highly engaged nursing staff, we focus on providing medical and surgical care to patients with complex conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, and genetic bowel disease.

Job Summary

This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic's Weekender Flex Program, requiring two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour shift during the week. Weekend shift options start at 7:00pm on Fridays and end at 7:30am on Mondays. While working 36 hours a week, you will be paid for 44 hours and receive full-time status and benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients' conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience. Military RN experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. You will also need to stand and walk for extended periods, have corrected vision and hearing, and work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids is possible. This role is classified as Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
