Job Summary

The Student Services Specialist plays a critical role in the School of Education's Student Services Center, overseeing the practicum placement process and ensuring smooth and successful placements for bachelor's and master's students. This position involves coordinating with school administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to facilitate communication and data management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage practicum placements, including coordinating with school principals, teachers, and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful placements.
  • Oversee data management systems, including data entry and reporting, to track student placements and diversity metrics.
  • Facilitate communication between school divisions, university faculty, and students to ensure a seamless practicum experience.
  • Support student retention efforts through classroom visits, orientations, and retention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Student Services Center and other staff members to maintain front desk coverage and support center operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in education administration, student services, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and proficiency in data entry.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and/or other relevant software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a K-12 teacher.
  • Master's degree in education or a related field.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $41,400 - $50,000. The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
