Position Overview

The Prime Accounting team plays a crucial role in supporting Amazon's Prime subscription services, overseeing the revenue generated through both direct-to-consumer and B2B sales channels.

We are seeking a proactive individual who will contribute to the expansion into new regions and assist in partner launch initiatives, while also managing various components of our monthly accounting and reporting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly accounting close process, including the preparation of journal entries, analysis of fluctuations and variances, and provision of insightful financial reports to management.

• Prepare and review account reconciliations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology, to ensure effective communication and support.

• Conduct technical accounting research and communicate the application of Amazon Accounting Policy and US GAAP to colleagues and business partners.

• Evaluate current procedures and recommend, develop, and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency and scalability.

• Work with technical teams to address issues related to unprocessed system transactions.

• Support the external audit process and escalate any inefficiencies to management.

• Assess internal controls, identify gaps, and design additional controls to address deficiencies.

• Contribute to projects aimed at reducing manual efforts.

• Build trust with senior management through effective communication.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or a related analytical field.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in Excel (including macros, index, conditional lists, arrays, pivots, and lookups).

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification.

• Familiarity with internal control frameworks (specifically COSO) to evaluate control design and operational efficiency.

• Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification.

• Experience in accounting management within a Big Four firm serving Fortune 500 clients.

• Proven ability to research and document support for accounting conclusions.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a comprehensive compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
