Nursing Administrative Services Director

Job Summary
The House Supervisor directs and coordinates nursing administrative services on weekends, holidays, and/or shifts. This role promotes the concepts of clinical nursing management and interdisciplinary care delivery, ensuring patient satisfaction through the principles of the Pride in Caring Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage human and material resources efficiently, prioritizing needs and analyzing staffing levels to adjust nursing staff resources based on patient volume variability, acuity, staff competency, and available support staff.
- Coordinate bed control in collaboration with nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, and/or designee for timely patient movement and placement throughout the facility, nursing units, and transfers to other facilities, prioritizing multiple demands for appropriate bed placement.
- Obtain necessary supplies and equipment as needed, monitoring specialty equipment utilization for appropriateness of use, discontinuation, and accurate charging processes.
- Supervise nursing staff on the delivery of nursing services to patients in respective divisions on designated shifts, acting as a clinical resource person in the delivery of patient care during designated shifts.
- Participate in and evaluate nursing performance, communicating findings to nursing administration/nurse managers, and collaborate and analyze staff levels in relation to patient acuity, intervening accordingly.
- Coordinate/initiate the on-call system for surgical cases on weekends and holidays, responsible for administrative functions on shift/weekends, and confer with administrator-on-call as needed.
- Communicate with appropriate resource persons, department supervisors, as indicated, to ensure continuous operations, and perform delegated duties of other departments when departments are closed.
- Respond effectively to all emergencies/codes, take appropriate action, follow-up, and documentation, demonstrating leadership in decision-making and problem-solving processes, addressing patient, family, and nursing concerns in an effective manner.
- Maintain professional communication and foster positive interpersonal relationships with staff, physicians, visitors, and students/faculty, participating in performance and quality improvement activities to ensure compliance and positive quality/safe patient care outcomes.
- Responsible for monitoring functions, complete and forward data reports as assigned, and provide care of patient valuables after business hours, ensuring patient valuables are placed in drop-in safe and recorded in Valuables Log (Admitting).
